At 44 Dental, we know how important it is to feel confident with your teeth, not just in appearance but also with the ability to eat and speak normally. We see many patients who are struggling with ill-fitting dentures and that has an impact on their daily life. We also see patients who have recently lost teeth and are now self-conscious about the gap that is left behind. If this is how you feel, it may be time to consider dental implants with Dr Khamis here at 44 Dental.
Understanding dental implants
A dental implant is a titanium post that acts as a replacement for your natural tooth root and is surgically positioned in your jawbone, under the gum. Once in place, the implant can be fitted with crowns, bridges, or dentures and will function just like natural teeth.
At 44 Dental, all implant treatment is performed by Dr JJ Khamis, our specialist prosthodontist. Dr Khamis has spent an extra 3 years studying the speciality of restoring missing teeth and jaw structures with natural looking replacements. His further training was carried out at the Bristol Dental Hospital, gaining much experience in oral surgery and restorative dentistry. Dr Khamis has also completed a Masters of Clinical Dentistry in fixed and removable prosthodontics at the Eastman Dental Institute in London. This advanced training makes Dr Khamis a specialist in dental implants, crowns, bridges, veneers and dentures. Rest assured you will be in safe and secure hands, and you can feel safe in the knowledge that your implant treatment will be carried out to a highest possible standard.
Why choose dental implants?
Although it’s a personal decision, there are many reasons that our patients often choose dental implants. Firstly, because they’re firmly anchored into the jaw, it means that they are completely secure. Ultimately because implants are fixed into position it give patients confidence when eating and chewing, rather than having to worry about ill-fitting dentures that can come loose and be a cause of embarrassment.
Other benefits include the fact that they:
- Look and feel just like your natural teeth
- Don’t damage any healthy teeth by relying on them for support
- Have a very high success rate
- Can be used to replace single or multiple teeth
- Prevent further bone loss and retain your facial structure
- Improve comfort and confidence
- Are long lasting and cost effective
How do I know if I am suitable for dental implants?
At your initial consultation, Dr Khamis will determine whether you are suitable for implant treatment. At this appointment, a complete assessment of your gums, teeth, bite, jaw bones, and medical history will be recorded and X-rays taken. It may also be necessary to have a CT scan as this allows for more precise treatment planning. Following this, Dr Khamis will then provide you with a treatment plan and cost quotation.
