Inman aligner vs Invisalign

Orthodontics is becoming a more popular choice of treatment for patients who want to achieve a smile with straight teeth. The traditional way of straightening teeth use to be with metal braces, however these days there are a few other options to choose from. Other options allow the patient to have appliances in the mouth which are not so obvious as the metal brackets and wires. Two of the most common options are the Inman aligner and Invisalign.

The Inman aligner is a removable orthodontic appliance and is very useful for those patients who may have had orthodontics when they were younger and have now found that the teeth have moved again, usually due to them not wearing a retainer. The Inman aligner is simple way of quickly straightening the teeth in approximately 16 weeks. however the inman aligner can only be used to align the front teeth.

The Invisalign system has become very popular over the years and is now suitable to treat patients who need more than just the front teeth straightening. The appliances can treat the whole arch and are very discreet in appearance. The only consist of clear plastic retainers which are changed ever couple of weeks until the teeth are straightened.

Whereas the Inman aligner can worn for 16 hours per day , the Invisalign retainers have to be kept in the mouth all the time, only to be removed for eating and brushing the teeth. Also due to the nature of the Inman aligner appliance they are also cheaper than Invisalign. The Invisalign manufactures would usually construct several aligners which can cost more. However from an appearance point of view the Inman aligner may be more visible due to the plastic band positioned across the front teeth. The Invisalign system is barley noticeable once in the mouth.
